SALALAH: The recently opened Shaat Glass Viewpoint in the Wilayat of Rakhyout has emerged as one of Dhofar Governorate’s newest tourist attractions, offering panoramic views of the mountainous landscape and the Arabian Sea.
Built on the edge of a mountain, the glass platform extends four metres beyond the cliff, allowing visitors to enjoy a striking view from above the clouds. The project represents a significant addition to the network of scenic viewpoints located across Dhofar’s popular tourist destinations.
The site has attracted families and tourists seeking to experience Dhofar’s natural beauty during the khareef season. Its scenic surroundings, cool weather and visitor facilities have made it a notable stop for those exploring Salalah and nearby wilayats.
Other viewpoints, including Aftalqout, Darbat, Deem and Hamrir, also continue to receive a steady flow of visitors. These locations offer distinctive views of Dhofar’s mountains, valleys and green landscapes.
The development of tourist viewpoints has also supported small and medium enterprises by creating opportunities for local shops, vendors and service providers. Such projects contribute to strengthening local economic activity while improving the overall experience offered to visitors.
